Kahaani Hindi Movie Trailer – Vidya Balan’s Next Bollywood Film

Thursday, March 8th, 2012

Hot off the success of The Dirty Picture, Vidya Balan is all set to appear in yet another female-centric role with her next Bollywood movie, Kahaani. If there’s one thing that Vidya seems keen on, it’s bringing variety into the roles she portrays on screen. From a sexy item girl in Dirty Picture, she will now transform into a hapless pregnant wife.

The kahaani of Kahaani

Kahaani is the story of Vidya Bagchi, played by Vidya Balan, who comes from London to Kolkata in search of her missing husband. There are several difficulties which she must face before she can unravel the truth about her spouse. For one, she is 7 months pregnant and absolutely new and alone in the festive city of Kolkata. Absolutely adamant on locating her lost hubby, Vidya begins a ruthless search. That too with only fragments from her memories about him to rely on.

Every clue and lead seem to reach a dead end. Everyone she meets seem oblivious to the whereabouts of her husband and tell her husband does not exist. Slowly, Vidya realises that the waters are deeper than they seem. In a city steeped in lies, Vidya is hell-bent on finding out the truth about her husband, even if it’s for unborn child. And she’s willing to stake her own life.

So that’s the kahaani of Kahaani. Seems quite the gripper, this one. Let’s hope the story and screenplay keep us involved enough to forget our boring drab, insipid lives. We’re quite skeptical though for Sujoy Ghosh has few notable films to his credit (Aladin, Home Delivery and Jhankar Beats).

Says Vidya Balan:

“It’s one of the few characters that I could perform with utmost ease and effortlessly because I’d joke with my friends as to how differently women walk when they are pregnant. I also tried to copy the way they take deep breathes in between.”

Talaash Movie Trailer – Will it be a hit or a flop?

Saturday, January 28th, 2012

Talaash is the name of Aamir Khan’s next Bollywood movie. Written and directed by Reema Kagti, Talaash also stars Rani Mukherji and Kareena Kapoor. It’s a suspense thriller where Aamir plays the role of a cop called Surjan Singh Sekhawat. Deadly!

talaash Talaash Movie Trailer Will it be a hit or a flop?

Talaash – The Answer Lies Within

Talaash might just thrill your brains out. Let’s hope it does – the last decent Bollywood thriller that we saw was I don’t know, 7 Khoon Maaf? Even that was okayish only.

But the director is just one film old!

Reema Kagti debuted as a director with Honeymoon Travels Pvt. Ltd which was a quirky romantic comedy. The film bombed. She next co-wrote Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara with Zoya Akhtar, which did pretty well. And Reema has assisted talented directors such as Farhan Akhtar, Mira Nair and Ashutosh Gowarikar. Some say she’s just one film old, so the hype is uncalled for. But that is all bullshit. Let me give you three solid examples from Bollywood history:

  1. Ashutosh Gowarikar was just two films old (Pehla Nasha and Baazi – both bombed) before he came together with Aamir Khan and directed Lagaan. The film almost won an Oscar.
  2. Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra had Aks to his name when Aamir signed up for Rang De Basanti. And that was a time when two Bhagat Singh movies were being released every weekend.  The film earned more than Rs. 1.36 billion (approximately US million) worldwide.
  3. And Farhan Akhtar had never made a movie before he made Dil Chahta Hai. And this film is widely recognized as the epic of our generation.
This is why I have high hopes with Talaash too.

Trailer of Talaash

From the 1 min long teaser, you can make out that Talaash is going to be a suspense thriller of the highest order. There will be blood. There will be dialogue. Action. Masala. Almost everything that we love Bollywood for. And there will be Aamir Khan. With his stamp of approval, everything seems fine. We somehow believe that the film will be really good.

I cannot remember the last time I came across any Bollywood (or even Hollywood!) celebrity who had consistently delivered good films like this guy. So without further ado, here’s the trailer of Talaash:

Talaash – We’re anticipating something really solid!

Talaash is going right on top of the list of the most highly anticipated upcoming Hindi movies to be released in 2012. Yes, the expectations are so high. The trailer is so good. I am an Aamir Khan fan. Not because all his films tend to work exceptionally well but because he’s one of the few actors who believes in creativity and improvisation.

In the last 10 years, Aamir has really experimented with the kind of roles that he has picked (village hero, romantic hero, historical hero, revolutionary hero, undercover terrorist, art teacher, crazy killer with six packsstudentpainter). But never before has he played a suspense drama. Surprised right? He’s been in a number of commercial action films but never a suspense thriller.

Read more about why Aamir Khan’s movies are invariably so successful.

Agneepath Trailer 2012 – Catch Sanjay Dutt’s Bone Chilling Avatar

Monday, December 12th, 2011

It seems to be the season of remakes for Bollywood. Don 2, the sequel to Farhan Akhtar’s ‘Don’, a remake of Amitabh Bachchan’s original Don, is going to be released.

sanjay dutt in agneepath 2012 Agneepath Trailer 2012 Catch Sanjay Dutts Bone Chilling Avatar

Sanjay Dutt in Agneepath 2012

Dharma Productions  and Karan Johar are all set to release a remake of another Amitabh Bachchan epic – Agneepath. It’s really foolish, and if the job ain’t well done, insulting, to even try replicate an epic movie and an epic Amitabh Bachchan a.k.a Vijay Dinanath Chauhan because the job is near impossible. You just cannot manufacture diamonds like these.

Will the new Agneepath be plain old, albeit aged wine in a chillingly new bottle or Bollywood trash that merely highlights the dearth of creative talent in the industry? Time will tell.

Going by the trailer of Agneepath, expectations are definitely high. They have shaved off Sanjay Dutt man and he sure looks sinister. Unlike the villains of Bollywood we are usually used to.

The producer, Karan Jo is saying they are completely scoring an original background score and Vijay Dinanath Chauhan’s theme and for that he has roped in Ajay-Atul to compose. Some say he wants the infuse the industry with new talent and creativity. Ironic, considering he’s merely remaking a blockbuster Bollywood movie from the early 90s.

You can, in the meanwhile, watch the trailer of Agneepath and see Hrithik battle a scary Sanjay Dutt with Hare Rama Hare Krishna playing in the background. Sweet!

What do you think? Will the new Agneepath manage to come close to the original one?

Singham Trailer Review

Thursday, June 16th, 2011

Singham’s trailer gives away one thing, that the movie is an unapologetic ode to the South Indian flavor of movies. You can’t mistake it, though when you see cars flying several meters high into the sky and combine that with Rohit Shetty’s name, you don’t actually come up with a movie like Singham – but here it is.  A remake of the Tamil blockbuster which starred superstar Surya in the lead role, the Hindi version of Singham has a firebrand Ajay Devgn playing the supercop, BajiRao Singham.

rel="nofollow" href="http://www.bollykings.com/wp-content/uploads//2011/06/Singham.jpg"> class="alignright size-full wp-image-4889" title="Singham" src="http://www.bollykings.com/wp-content/uploads//2011/06/Singham.jpg" alt="Singham Singham Trailer Review" width="186" height="270" />Singham has a rather beefy Ajay Devgn, running around fighting and getting justice in a style that can be lightly claimed as our own desi answer to The Matrix. Cops are back in fashion and href="../the-return-of-the-macho-heroes/">the macho hero is back in action. So, BajiRao Singham takes on the local baddie and gives his rebuttal with total elan – cars flying, bodies flying … even the hero flying and then takes out time for some song and dance amidst several well coordinated dancers. Kajal Agarwal debuts in Singham and though it is a great debut, it does not take a genius to guess how much of her acting skills will be on display in the film. This is Ajay’s film and it will be that way all through the movie. Ajay Devgn’s dialogue delivery as Baji Rao looks cheesy and over the top and I doubt whether the context of the movie will make it look any better.

Singham looks like a story told several times over and though differently dressed up, the trailer gives a feeling of something you have seen many times – not deja vu but repetitiveness . On the other hand, it may work well enough for people who like this flavor of action.

Singham releases on July 22, 2011.

Bhindi Bazaar Inc. Preview and Trailer

Friday, June 3rd, 2011

Bhindi Bazaar Inc. is a movie which talks about the underbelly of the city – the places which harbor petty criminals and which provide feeding grounds to several would be criminals. For those who don’t know, Bhindi Bazaar is a place in Mumbai, densely populated, crowded and on the whole a mess. It is a part of the city which has not actually moved on with the times and you can still see traces of the old world over there. Bhindi Bazaar Inc. is a story of crime – how it lives and how it thrives.

The first looks and trailers are mainly a hodge-podge of criminals, big and small toting guns, picking pockets, giving menacing looks and mouthing dangerous dialogues. This may as well be a masterpiece … or it may be a complete disaster, but this movie is sure worth noticing. An edgy rendering of the promos and a great line up of actors (most notably Kay Kay Menon, Pawan Malhotra, Deepti Naval and Shilpa Shukla) gives the movie a respectable standing.

Enjoy the trailer of Bhindi Bazaar Inc.

Abhinay Deo’s Game – Theatrical Trailer

Sunday, March 20th, 2011

Come April 1 and we will be treated to a brand new action thriller – Game. Being directed by first timer Abhinay Deo, Game stars Abhishek Bachchan, Kangana Ranaut, Sarah Jane Dias, Jimmy Shergill, Shahana Goswami, Gauhar Khan, Boman Irani and Anupam Kher. The story line of Game, according to Abhinay Deo, is ‘very twisted’ and involves a lot of surprises. He feels that in Bollywood, while the cast and crew is given a lot of importance, the story and script often takes the back seat, which is slowly degrading the quality of movies in the industry.

id="attachment_3811" class="wp-caption aligncenter" style="width: 197px"> href="http://www.bollykings.com/wp-content/uploads//2011/03/game-bollywood-movie.jpg"> class="size-medium wp-image-3811" title="game bollywood movie" src="http://www.bollykings.com/wp-content/uploads//2011/03/game-bollywood-movie-227x300.jpg" alt="game bollywood movie 227x300 Abhinay Deos Game Theatrical Trailer" width="187" height="248" /> class="wp-caption-text">Game Poster

Abhinay Deo was previously going to open his innings in Bollywood with Aamir Khan Productions upcoming movie, Delhi Belly but it seems that this guy was already being backed by Farhan Akhtar’s and Ritesh Sidwani’s Excel Entertainment. That’s a double whammy for Abhinay Deo. I don’t think any other director could have asked for better production houses to begin their Bollywood careers with!

Check out the theatrical trailer of Game below:

Going by the visuals in the theatrical trailer, Game looks like a high powered Bollywood action movie. Let’s hope its not lifted off some Hollywood film. Abhishek Bachchan
